Quality instrumentation and remote data will be critical to facilitate adoption of process automation in the new post COVID-19 world. With the Carbon Scout you will be able to better manage your carbon inventory and operate with the circuit stability conducive to minimise gold solution losses. The primary benefit of the Carbon Scout is facilitation of automated carbon movement, in addition to providing a single sampling point at ground level. Expert interpreting of data results in real-time circuit optimisation in carbon-in-leach (CIL) and carbon-in-pulp (CIP) circuits, reducing soluble gold losses. Besides carbon, there is the ability to measure gold as an extra option.

Chris Hitchen, former Superintendent – Projects at Evolution Mining, Cowal Operations, says “’The Carbon Scout is a safe, user friendly and effective means of obtaining regular and accurate carbon measurement data from the CIL circuit and provides the ability to effectively automate the movement of carbon within the circuit”
Chris first came to know of the Carbon Scout from the Amira P420 Gold Research Project at Curtin University. He saw the Carbon Scout as an opportunity to unlock the full potential of their CIL circuit through using real time data for process improvement, efficiency and performance. By reducing circuit variability through stabilising carbon inventory, the Carbon Scout has taken positive steps towards this goal, with optimisation ongoing.
The Carbon Scout delivers productivity benefits by removing the requirement for manual sampling of the tanks, as it does this automatically. By removing the potential OH&S risks associated with manual sampling, plant operators can now focus on other critical tasks.
